Solutions Architect ( Public Safety and Parking ) will assume the overall responsibility for client solution design for Public Safety and Parking vertical within Conduent Business Services. Play a major part in ensuring that the overall solution that is designed and sold to the client (including the different technical or service components) meet the client requirements and are deliverable. Utilize in-depth knowledge of application architecture best practices, domain and functional knowledge, software development, cloud infrastructure, analytics, virtualization, storage, server, networking, data center services, and other leading-edge products and technology in conjunction with industry and business skills to influence clients.
This position is located in Germantown, Maryland and reports directly to the Technology General Manager, Public Safety and Parking, Transportation, Public Sector (CTS, Public Sector).
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Define win themes, solution strategy and assess competitiveness of solution approach for deal pursuits in partnership with sales (“Win Strategy”)
Ability to develop a quick understanding of deal parameters and compare with previous wins/losses to define optimal solution and cost model design
Apply business acumen and defined standards and methodologies to create deal solutions
Act as team lead in setting technical direction for deal pursuits that would involve working with various work streams, including IT TSMs, operations, sales, bid management, pricing and other resources
Lead for strategy, design, and implementation of solutions
Perform technical solution assessments to identify operational, financial and contractual risks with assistance of other work streams as necessary
Expertise and deep understanding of cost modeling techniques to be able to prepare business cases, recommend pricing models
Ability to create detailed solutions and cost models that can feed into pricing team for deal pricing. (Note: May leverage dedicated cost modelers for highly complex modeling)
Obtain work stream signoffs as necessary and dictated by the defined solution process
Hands-on operational background. Resource well versed with service delivery and technology offering nuances
Use business partners, as necessary, to create integrated solutions and value prop
Domain experience: expertise/specialty in one area (deep) and comfort in solution design and client interactions as a sales specialist in multiple offerings for the industry
Client-facing role with clear expectation to front-end solution discussions with all levels of client stakeholders
Gather client requirements and architectural design parameters to define Conduent’s solution
Negotiation skills. Actively contribute to negotiations process and demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking to design and adapt solutions to client requirements and negotiation positions
Use consultative techniques to gather requirements, assess client pain points and lead due diligence and workshops
Builds and maintains a personal connection with multiple customers. Leverage these contacts to understand and influence trends within the industry
Create handover package with detailed solution assumptions for handoff to transitions and delivery
Act as support for operational teams for a “teething” period to enable successful transition and stabilization of services
Drive process consistency, standards within solution offering
Develop competitive analytics capability to determine target pricing on deal pursuits using external/internal data
Quality of solution process
Smooth deal pursuit process execution
Effective handover to operations upon deal signing
Successful execution of strategic initiatives
Technical Bachelor's Degree
At least 10 years of experience in Product/Software development, requirements gathering, leading team of technical solution designers, driving solution development process.
Candidates must have strong communication and presentation skills, and be able to take a holistic view of the overall Product/solution and produce high-level design plans, in relation to the commercial impact on the business.
Comes with strong experience in designing solution of large sized , technology led BPO deals
Resource should have played the role of a “Solution integrator”, working across multiple service offerings and work streams (sales, delivery, technology, transition)
Proven capabilities in senior client interactions to discuss solution strategy, approach, details. Ability to drive workshop-driven discussions with client teams to articulate vision/approach and to create high-quality outcomes
Strong ability to drive internal teams to create high quality work products for our clients
Strong ability to run pre-contract due diligence exercises to validate complex solutions and to take opportunities to closure
Deep expertise/specialty in more than one solution areas & offerings. Considered an expert internally and externally
Maintains expert knowledge of the management and/or sales techniques associated with the specialty offerings, along with the use of appropriate tools
Predominantly client facing role, deployed on complex, high-value opportunities
Recognized as the expert on the competition -- the companies or industries , their products/services, strategies, and directions
Based on knowledge of future trends, anticipates, creates and defines innovative and visionary solutions for leading edge or critical customer business requirements
Exhibits teamwork at the highest levels of Conduent and customer management in developing and selling solutions
Contributes to technology strategy
Key Skill Sets: Cloud offerings, Overall Enterprise solutions and integration
Readiness to travel up to 25% annually

- Strong and broad based architectural view of software, cloud infrastructure and service technologies. Transportation industry experience and Product/Project management discipline.
